Prosecuting Attorney, Terry A. Swauger

I am employed by the City of Niles as the Prosecuting Attorney for the Niles Municipal Court on the mornings of Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. I am required to handle the scheduled cases first and the Niles Court handles over 5,000 criminal and traffic cases a year. After all cases are finished I endeavor to meet with any person who needs to discuss legal matters involving my office. However, due to time restraints, I am not always able to do so.

Theft Charges Filed by Businesses
Charges must be filed the following work day by 9:00 am. Please have with you any reports or paperwork you would like filed with the case.

The fee is $45.00 for each violation. Checks are not accepted.

If the theft is over $1,000, it is a felony and you must file with the Prosecutor. Should the following morning fall on a day that the Prosecutor is not scheduled to be here, you must still come in and file.
Some businesses complete their own Affidavits to file THEFT charges. These are for misdemeanors only. If your business does not currently complete the affidavit without the assistance of our Prosecutor and would like to begin doing so, talk with the Court's Prosecutor for this request.

All other violations other than THEFT misdemeanors may only be filed with the Prosecutor.
